We came for 'Uzbek special' and were very excited to see an authentic and absolutely delicious Samarkand-style plov. The Uzbek salads were exquisite and, according to an Uzbek friend of mine, authentic. We ordered Airan, which turned out to be okroshka, and was very refreshing and tasted like home, so made up for not being what we ordered.
The home-made flavoured vodka was unearthly tasty. I am not a vodka enthusiast but still enjoyed a blackcurrant flavoured shot. in fact, that vodka, with repeated exposure, may turn me into a vodka fan. I better be careful. My friends, who know about vodka quite a lot, were saying that it is one of the best flavoured vodka they have ever tried and absolutely worth coming back for.
I did not enjoy the served green tea. Perhaps, you would like to up your tea game. :) However, I do admit, I have been spoilt with some amazing green tea in Almaty.
Service was great - people are very friendly and helpful.
The interior is peculiar in a good way. The character and atmosphere of the place is lovely and memorable. I had to Instagram the menu cover. ;)
I liked 'Zima' a lot and will be coming back.
Thank you.
Never tried Russian food before and was not disappointed. I had the platter for a starter, which was a good way of trying a little bit of everything. For main I had the Beef Stroganoff, the meat was succulent and the potatoes are just how I like them! For dessert I had the Honey Cake which was truly delicious. To top it off the beer is decent too, with the Baltika brand being my favourite. All in all, a cool little restaurant in the heart of Soho!
Went in at lunch time. The staff were lovely and service was great. Gave good recommendations and suggestions on food. The food itself was delicious and full of flavour. Will definitely go back, and I recommend the solyenka soup.
